As a part of our series of dating articles on USA singles, we would like to post one of the emails we recently received from an American guy who had just broken up with his girlfriend. Although this happens constantly to people and there's not much to be discovered about it, the story of this boy is quite unusual, that is why we thought it was interesting to post it on this page.
Michael:
My girlfriend and I have just broken up after 10 years of serious relationship. Her reason for breaking up was that we were too different and she realized that our future projects would not come to a happy end. And this is when one thinks, and do you realize that now? After 10 years? Did you not have enough time to realize that before? Anyway, the thing is that our families knew each other and had become friends, we had bought a house in the outskirts of Seattle, and we had several pets in common. So, our rupture became a real divorce with property to share and all kinds of stuff. Since we did not agree on a thing we decided to hire a lawyer. The last thing I could have expected to happen happened. My mum recommended me to hire a lawyer who happened to be the daughter of one of her best friends. We met and after half hour we had forgotten completely about my so-called divorce issues. That very day we went for dinner, and the next day I picked her up after
work and went to see a movie, and those meetings continued for an entire month. When the lawyer of my ex-girlfriend called me to set a meeting, I could not hide my surprise and sincerely said that I had forgotten about the whole thing completely and I agreed that she should keep it all. After half hour my ex called me and enquired about my sudden change of opinion. I told her the truth and she could not be more jealous. Oh well, in the end, we agreed to sell the house and our pets and now
my lawyer and I live in a cozy apartment in Seattle. I have no idea my ex does. I hope she found someone similar too her with whom to lead a future project to a happy end.
This email is a good portrait of USA singles and American youth in general. In other countries, it takes people more time to rebuild their lives after a rupture, whereas for USA singles is much easier. Why is that? Well, USA singles are very practical and although this does not mean they are not romantic, it is true that they do not engage in impossible relationships. It is also true that they are open to adventure and romance much more than people from other countries.
